I have added some photos from the reunion here. If you have some photos you'd like to add, click on "album actions" and select "add photo." I will probably remove the upload ability in a week or so, so upload your reunion photos soon.

The Lail family had a birthday party/reunion Saturday at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in the Bethlehem community near Hickory, NC.

It was uncle Don Lail's birthday (11/25/1925) birthday and the whole Virginia clan (which I hadn't seen in many, many years ... most of my cousins' children I had never met).

Here are some photos from Mark's 15th birthday.

Listening to "Saturday Night House Party," my favorite blues radio show, on WNCW. If you've never heard it, give it a listen some Saturday night. Good cross section of new stuff and classics, ranging across every blues style. From 7 to 10 p.m. followed by an hour long "House Party Live."

They just cranked into a "drinking" set that started with Floyd Dixon doing "Hey Bartender," then rolled into John Lee Hooker's "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer" then Paul Mark and the VanDorens' "Drinkin on the job," followed by Albert Collins doing "I ain't drunk."

Goood stuff.

Beautiful day

It was a beautiful day today. I jogged 6.75 miles at Lakeshore in 76 minutes. Yeah, it's slow jogging. So what? It was a nice end to a sad weekend. This weather won't be with us long.

Tragedy struck the family of one of my co-workers and friends this week. The why is so unfathomable.

HAWKINS, KALA ELIZABETH - of Kodak, 13 years of age, the precious daughter of Chris and Tammy Hawkins went home Thursday, November 3rd to be with Jesus after a battle with Leukemia. Kala was a faithful member at Beech Springs Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by: her parents; her sister, Kara; grandparents, Sam and Joy Hawkins; grandmother, Argile Bozeman; uncles and aunts, Larry and Maureen Cornett, David and Cindy Hawkins, Sammie Hawkins, Mike and Brenda Bozeman, Chris and Debbie Bozeman, Jackie Bozeman, Debbie Sewell, Melody Bozeman; and many cousins. The family greatly acknowledges and appreciates the love and support of friends from the Church, The Knoxville News Sentinel, Northview Middle - Beta Club, Basketball Team, and the Staff of Children's Hospital and the Hematology Clinic. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Saturday, November 5th with the funeral following at Beech Springs Baptist Church of Kodak. Internment, Sunday, 3:00 pm Beech Springs Cemetery. Reverend Wayne Stinnett and Reverend Gary Addington officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations are made to: The B.S.B.Church Building Fund, 337 West Mount Road, Kodak TN 37764; or Children's Hospital Development Dept. PO Box 15010, Knoxville, TN 37901, designate Hemotogly/Onocology Clinic. Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville, is in charge of arrangements.

I cannot comprehend the grief and sorrow of Kala's parents and sister.

I hope this makes a little sense:

"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
-- Clyde Campbell

She surely will live in the hearts of many.
