Mr. Lail, is it possible you have misunderstood what Charlie Daniels meant? You seem to be very defensive about this. You also write, “Daniels should be ashamed of his own involvement in seeding lies and nurturing hate.” Let’s examine your calling Charlie Daniels a liar.

Are you suggesting that since "several stories and photos" were distributed by AP that Charlie Daniels is wrong? Mr. Daniels wrote, “But have you seen anything on the networks, The New York Times, The Nashville Tennessean? I haven't.”

Isn’t what Mr. Daniels suggests is that this story was not reported to the level of fluff stories carried by the AP and the Main Stream Media? Also, Charlie Daniels did not mention the Knoxville News Sentinel did he?

So where does your outrage come from sir? Is it not clear to you Mr. Lail that Charlie Daniels is not talking about your newspaper the Knoxville News Sentinel?

Simply put Mr. Lail, has this story had the column inches on AP and the MSM that the Paris Hilton DUI case has? Britney's haircut? Anna Nicole Smith's death?

Of course it hasn’t. And that is exactly Charlie Daniels point.

So please explain Mr. Lail how that is a “heinous falsehood” and why “Daniels should be ashamed of his own involvement in seeding lies and nurturing hate”. Your defense of the Main Stream Media makes no sense what so ever. And you wonder why people are not reading newspapers. Look in the mirror. It’s not about you Mr. Lail, it is about your sorry industry. Get your own house in order before you call others liars.

I think you owe Charlie Daniels an apology.

Daniels says:

The Knoxville News Sentinel and the many other media that have reported this story are part of the "American media."

It just hasn't slipped through the cracks. We have covered it. So have others.

I'm not defensive about it. Sometimes you just have to point out that what some are passing along as fact, just isn't.

Honestly, we haven't heard much of anything about it in Nashville. I would think that if such a horrendous crime happened in this state, it would have been all over the news across the entire state. It just hasn't happened.

I'm not saying it's because of a racial nature...I'm just saying it hasn't happened.

I used the same search parameter you used above Mr. Lail at both the Tennessean and the New York Times.

Is the Knoxville News Sentinel part of the MSM? Charlie Daniels doesn't think so. But you do. Since when is a mid-market newspaper part of the MSM? You have a high opinion of the KNS.

You are parsing what Mr. Daniels wrote and you seem to have a reading comprehension issue. Your defense of the MSM makes no sense. Mr. Daniels point had nothing to do with you or your paper. Your calling him a liar makes no sense. His post is not about “seeding lies and nurturing hate”, it is about wanting equal coverage of the news. Something the politically correct MSM is incapable of.

You are way out of line here. Which is your prerogative. You wonder why people don’t read your paper? Now you know.

The liar is you. Any crime is a local news story. The national news media flocked like vultures to the Duke non-rape case, and this much more horrific, not to mention true, criminal case has been ignored by the liberal media. Just Google it. Only now, after extensive criticism in the blogosphere, has this case started to see the attention it deserved. The media only cares about crimes when they are committed by white males against selected minority groups. Crimes committed against whites by minorities, which are much more common, are ignored by the national media. That is what Mr Daniels was implying and in that he is absolutely correct.

We've been getting an earful of complaints too. But when we point out the dozens of stories we've reported on this crime, the usual response is, "Well, we didn't mean the local media."

No Jack, Charlie Daniels should not be ashamed for his honest comments about the worst hate crime in Tennessee state history, among the worst hate crimes in American history, you and the Powers That Be in the MSM - mainstream media should be ashamed for allowed political correctness to censors this story. Check out all of the MSM coverage of the Duke rape hoax - it was front page story in Newsweek on all the network news - all based on the drunk rantings of a prostitute/stripper - it turned out to be a total hoax, same as the Tawana Brawley hoax. The car jacking, rape, torture and murder of Channon Christian was not made up - it was real - there are dead mutilated bodies found. OK, so why no coverage in the Nashville Tennessean, nothing in the New York Times, on CBS, PBS - lots of "BS" in the mainstream media, but little or no honest reporting on real hate crimes. And do a little research - one of the suspects was involved with the Black Gangster Disciples a brutal ALL BLACK RACIST Chicago street gang now violent racist prison gang. If this isn't a Hate Crime - there is no such thing as Hate Crimes.
You comment that the AP has now picked up the story as well as some on Fox, it is only because of the work of people like Charlie Daniels who shamed MSM for blacking out coverage of this crime.

Thank God TN has the death penalty, of course I'm sure these po black boys and girl had a horrible childhood so it's not their fault. I don't care what race these things are, they are not human and don't deserve any mercy.

I live in northern Illinois. There was a story in the Chicago Tribune this morning about these murders. This is the first I've ever heard of them and I read the Trib and the Daily Herald every day and read news on the Internet, so I have to agree with Charlie Daniels. In no way was this case covered across the country. After reading what happened, I sure have to wonder why.
