Kathy Brister, a former business writer at the Knoxville News Sentinel, has a new job.
Brister, who left the News Sentinel in 2000 to become a business reporter and later editor at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, has been named the senior editor for business and news on the “News & Information” side of the newspaper, a new position.
Congrats!

What’s the “news and information” side of the paper?
Dang if I know! The AJC reorged into a structure that is unlike any that I am aware of.
There are 4 divisions in our newsroom at the AJC. N&I is one of them. Their goal, basically is to “aggressively pursue the local and localized news our readers want, publishing it quickly online and in print.” The ‘Enterprise” division is also a newsgathering aspect, but they focus more on news analysis and narrative writing. Kathy’s role is very pivotal.
Cheers
Thanks, Gina!
